What this site is

Tip & Topcoat covers one thing: doing your nails at home to a standard you would have paid for. Press-on nails sized by nail bed and shape, gel kits and UV/LED lamps, polish that resists chipping, nail drills and safe removal — and the care routine that keeps the nail underneath healthy.

There are currently 70 pages here covering 41 products across 6 sections. Every one of them is organized around the same question: which specification actually decides whether this works, and what does it cost you per wear?

Why it exists

Because the two questions that decide whether an at-home manicure succeeds — does it fit, and how long will it last — are almost never what product pages are organized around. Press-on roundups rank by appearance. Lamp listings lead with wattage, which is close to irrelevant. Nobody computes cost per wear, which is the only number that tells a budget-conscious buyer anything.

So this site ranks on fit, wear and cost, publishes the method, and shows the arithmetic.

Who writes it

Janet H. — Owner, Janet Media Group. Janet H. is the hands-on owner behind Janet Media Group and writes everything on Tip & Topcoat. She started the site after getting tired of paying salon prices for manicures she could do at home.

That is the complete biography, and it is complete on purpose. She is not a licensed nail technician, she does not run a salon, and this site does not imply otherwise. What she brings is the research, the comparison and the arithmetic — plus the same starting point as most people reading this, which is having got tired of paying for something doable at a kitchen table.

What this site is not

• Not a testing operation. We compare published specifications and reported buyer experience. We do not own these products and we never claim to. The method is published in full.
• Not a medical resource. Where this site discusses nail damage, UV exposure or safety, it cites dermatology and clinical sources and links them. It is not a substitute for seeing a dermatologist, and several pages say so explicitly.
• Not a review site with ratings. There are no star ratings or review counts here, for any product, because we have not collected any.
• Not a price comparison site. There is no live price data here yet, so no product price appears anywhere. Buy buttons open the live price on Amazon.

How it is funded

Tip & Topcoat is free to read and funded by affiliate commission — when you buy through a link here we may earn a commission from Amazon, at no extra cost to you. No sponsored placements, no paid reviews, and no brand has paid to appear.
