Privacy policy

The short version

Tip & Topcoat has no user accounts, no database of readers, no newsletter and no comment system. We do not sell or share personal information. Three things do collect data: Google Analytics, affiliate links, and the contact form — each described below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It collects standard web analytics data — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and events such as clicking a buy button or submitting the contact form.

This is aggregate and statistical. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not combine it with anything else. Google's own handling of the data it collects is governed by its privacy policy.

You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, a tracker-blocking extension, or your browser's own privacy settings. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Affiliate links and cookies

When you click a buy button, you pass through a redirect on our domain and arrive at a retailer, usually Amazon. The retailer sets a cookie recording that you arrived from here, so that any purchase you make can be attributed to us for commission.

We do not receive information about what you buy, or any personal details. What reaches us is an aggregate commission report. The cookie is set by the retailer under its own privacy policy and its own duration, not ours. Full detail on the commercial relationship is in the affiliate disclosure.

The contact form

If you send a message through the contact page, we receive the name, email address and message you type. That is used to reply to you and nothing else. It is delivered to an email inbox and is not stored in any database on this site.

The form includes basic anti-spam measures: a hidden field that real visitors never see, a check on how quickly the form was submitted, and a limit on submissions from the same connection. These process the submission itself, not you.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or share your personal information.
• We have no user accounts and store no passwords.
• We run no newsletter and no mailing list.
• We host no comment system and collect no user-submitted content.
• We run no advertising network, so no ad-tech trackers are placed by us.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Hosting and logs

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, its infrastructure processes standard server request data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent — in the normal course of delivering pages and protecting against abuse. We do not have access to these logs as an identifiable dataset.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you, and to object to certain processing.

In practice, the only personal information we hold is whatever you sent us in a contact form message. Email janet.hoyo@yahoo.com and we will delete it on request.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — for instance if the site ever adds a feature that collects something new — we will update this page and change the date at the top. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the record.
