The thirty-second test that decides what to buy
Press gently against the free edge of a nail with your thumb.
It flexes, and the edge separates into layers. Your nails are soft and peeling. You want protein. Nailtiques is explicit that Formula 2 is formulated for nails that are soft, peeling, bitten, weak or thin.
It resists, then snaps cleanly. Your nails are brittle — dry, not weak. You want moisture and flexibility. A hardener here is actively counterproductive: it makes a rigid nail more rigid, and rigid is precisely what is breaking. Go to cuticle oil instead.
This distinction is why so many people conclude that strengtheners do not work. Half of them bought the wrong category.

Note what none of them do: change how the nail grows. That happens in the matrix, under the skin, and nothing painted on the visible nail reaches it. A treatment improves the nail you have — which is real and worth doing — and any change in the nail you grow appears over months.
On the percentages
Two brand claims come up constantly in this category, and both should be read as what they are.
OPI states nails are "95% stronger in 1 week" with Nail Envy. Olive & June states its Nail Strengthener increases nail strength by 77%. Both are the brands' own figures, published without an accompanying methodology that we could find. They are marketing claims, not independent findings, and we are quoting them as such rather than repeating them as fact.
What is more useful than either number is the published routine, because that tells you whether you can realistically comply.
The routines, and whether you will actually do them
OPI Nail Envy: two coats on bare nails on day one, then one coat daily, remove on day seven, restart. That is seven applications and a removal, weekly, indefinitely.
Nailtiques Formula 2: one coat daily on clean dry nails, reducing frequency as nails improve, removed weekly with a non-acetone remover — and the brand directs graduating to Formula 1 once the target is reached. That last part is unusual and worth respecting: it acknowledges that you should stop, rather than treating forever.
Both can be worn alone or under color as a base coat, which is what makes them realistic. A treatment you have to choose over a manicure is a treatment you will abandon.
